Annual Fundraising Gala in Mountain View

It’s the annual social event of the season! Arkansas Craft School announces a Fundraising Gala set for Thursday, November 20, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Angler’s Restaurant, on the beautiful White River. The Gala will feature dinner, cash bar, live music featuring The John Burnette Band, silent and live auctions of hand-crafted items to benefit the School’s scholarship fund, and door prizes.

The John Burnette Band is composed of John Burnette, Dave Williams II, and Michael Lavender. John, a jazz guitarist, spent the first 11 years of his life in Mountain View, “Folk Music Capital of the World,” a community dedicated to supporting and continuing the tradition of live music and storytelling, which paved the way for him to learn to play the guitar. Dave Williams II, born and raised in Little Rock, followed in his father’s footsteps and began playing tenor saxophone at age 13. Michael Lavender, who plays bass, has a background playing Metal, Jazz, Funk, Blues and Rock. Mike holds a degree in bass performance from UALR. The trio will be performing mostly jazz standards, but there may be some original material as well.

Live and silent auctions will feature artistic creations by some of the Arkansas Craft School’s most talented instructors, students, and supporters. Just in time for Holiday shopping, bidding for these handcrafted works of art will begin at a fraction of their normal retail price. Holiday shopping just got easy…..find the perfect gift for that special someone! The Arkansas Craft School provides scholarships to students who would otherwise be unable to attend due to financial restraints; the auction provides a way for these students to give something in return.
Craft artisans, artists, musicians or community members who would like to donate items for the silent auction are asked to call Executive Director Lucia Vinograd (870) 269-8397.
So, come join us for a night of fun! Tickets are $30.00 per person or $55.00 per couple, and may be purchased at Citizen’s Bank, First Service Bank, Ozarka College (Mountain View), or your favorite Arkansas Craft School board member. You also may call the Arkansas Craft School at (870) 269-8397.
