Harding University Homecoming Weekend Provides Exciting Activities

Students, alumni and friends will share in a celebration 90 years in the making at Harding University during Homecoming weekend Oct. 30-Nov. 1. In addition to cheering on the Bison football team in their 2 p.m. game against Southeastern Oklahoma State University and enjoying a performance of “Shrek The Musical,” visitors and current students alike can choose from numerous activities to relive favorite college memories and create new ones with friends.

Highlights of Homecoming weekend include:

Thursday, Oct. 30

The Harding History House on N. Lott Tucker Drive will feature a chronological story of Harding’s five presidents, an exhibit on the late Coach John Prock, and more from 11 a.m.­-4 p.m.

The Heritage Circle Banquet will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Founders Room on second floor of the Heritage Center to honor the classes of ’64, ’59, ’54, ’49, ’44 and ’39. ($16)

Friday, Oct. 31

The Bison Booster Club Golf Tournament will take place at 9 a.m. on the Course at River Oaks. ($125/person, $500/team)

The Good News Singers will perform at 4 p.m. in C.L. Kay Plaza in front of Benson Auditorium.

The 90th anniversary Black and Gold Banquet will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Heritage Cafeteria to honor outstanding and distinguished alumni. ($18)

At 7 p.m., the Lady Bison soccer team will face Southwestern Oklahoma University at Stevens Soccer Field.

“Shrek The Musical” will begin at 8 p.m. in Benson Auditorium. ($15 and $18)

The Bison Block Party begins at 10:30 p.m. at Legacy Park with music and s’mores.

Saturday, Nov. 1

Bison Stampede 5K Run will be at 9 a.m. ($20)

Alumni Chapel will be at 10 a.m. in the Administration Auditorium.

Inflatable games, a petting zoo, Harding family picnic and tailgating will take place prior to the football game from 10:45 a.m.-1:45 p.m. at Ganus Athletic Center.

Belles and Beaux will be performing at 11 a.m. in Administration Auditorium.

The Pied Pipers will also perform at 11 a.m. in Heritage Auditorium.

The Lady Bisons volleyball team face Southwestern Oklahoma State at 11 a.m. in Rhodes Field House.

At 2 p.m., the Harding Bisons football team will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State University at First Security Stadium. ($8 and $10)

Another showing of “Shrek The Musical” will be at 8 p.m. in Benson Auditorium. ($15 and $18)
