Arkansas Military Academy to Induct Six into Hall of Fame

 WHO:    The following members of the 1975 graduating class of the Arkansas Military Academy’s Officer Candidate School Class #18

         Col. (Ret.) John L. Brackin, of Searcy

         Col. (Ret.) Thomas C. Hunt, of Dardanelle

        Col. (Ret.) George W McCulley Jr., of Pangburn

         Col. (Ret.) Nathaniel McGee, of Hensley

        Col. (Ret.) Kenneth H. Newton, of Maumelle

         Col. (Ret.) Edward W. Whitaker Jr., of Conway

 WHAT:   will be inducted into the Arkansas Military Academy’s Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame. 

 WHEN:   on Saturday, September 11, at 11 a.m.  Media interested in coverage of the event are invited to meet escort at 10:40 a.m. 

WHERE:  Media are asked to meet escort at Camp Joseph T. Robinson’s main gate visitor’s center on Military Drive in North Little Rock.  The event will take place in the auditorium of the Arkansas Military Academy’s new General Instruction Building on post.

WHY:    In recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions to the National Guard, the state of Arkansas and the nation during their military careers. 

        Hall of Fame candidates must be graduates of the Officer Candidate School and meet a series of criteria to qualify for consideration. Honorees are selected by a panel of previous Hall of Fame inductees. Criteria for selection as a candidate are:

·       Any member who is awarded the Medal of Honor

·       Members who have attained the rank of colonel

·       Members who have been elected to public office in any state or federal government capacity

·       Those who have achieved state or national recognition for exceptional service to the nation

·       Members which attained an exceptional wartime service record

      The Arkansas Military Academy was founded in 1957 by a group of Arkansas National Guard officers who volunteered their own time to establish and teach selected Guardsmen the knowledge and characteristics necessary to succeed as a military officer. The Academy is currently conducting its 53rd class of the yearlong program.
