Berry Secures Langauge For Minimum Flow

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Marion Berry (AR-01) voted to pass the Energy and Water Appropriations Act for FY 2010 in the House of Representatives. This bill included language to help the Army Corps of Engineers Minimum Flow project move one step closer toward completion. The bill will now be sent to the President for his signature before becoming law.

The Bill includes language securing payment for damages incurred through the implementation of the Minimum Flow project.  This language will allow the Corps of Engineers to move forward with the construction of several vital pieces of infrastructure, include valves and siphons, in support of the White River Minimum Flow project.

“Arkansas is renowned for incredible fishing and natural resources,” said Berry. “The Minimum Flow project will enhance our resources by increasing the minimum flows of water on the White River.  The completion of this project will help avert environmental crisis, enhance wildlife habitat, and help support the tourism industry, which will help bring jobs to the region and bolster the local economy.”
