Boozman Committed to VA Oversight Senate VA Committee Health Staffer Joins Tour to Central Arkansas VA Facilities

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) will be at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock Friday to meet with local Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) officials for briefings, updates and discussions on the unique challenges facing VA health care in Arkansas and how the recently passed legislation to reform the VA will help our veterans receive the care they earned.

Last week, Congress sent President Obama a bill to improve access to health care for veterans and reform the VA. The legislation gives veterans the ability to seek care outside the VA system if they encounter delays, authorizes the hiring of more doctors and nurses and allows VA to fire senior officials.

Boozman will be joined in central Arkansas by Senate Veterans Affairs Committee minority staffer whose is responsible for VA health care oversight. The Senator will also visit the Conway Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.

Media can meet Boozman following the meeting at Little Rock’s John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital.
