Dick Tammell appointed to the Arkansas Highway Commission

    Press Release:

Tuesday night, Governor Mike Beebe announced his intention to appoint Dick Trammel of Rogers to the Arkansas Highway Commission next month. The announcement came at an event honoring Trammel in Fayetteville.

“Dick Trammel has a love and enthusiasm for Arkansas that is hard to match,” Governor Beebe said. “He gives tirelessly of himself to a multitude of professional and philanthropic organizations in Northwest Arkansas, and I have no doubt that he will bring the same dedication and wisdom to the Highway Commission.”

Originally from Pocahontas, Trammel, 71, graduated from the University of Arkansas and has worked for the First National Bank of Rogers and Arvest Bank for more than 30 years, currently as executive vice-president and secretary of the board at Arvest. Trammel helped establish Northwest Arkansas Community College, and works with dozens of charitable and non profit groups in the region. Beebe is the fourth governor to appoint or reappoint Trammel to various positions, with Governors Clinton, Tucker and Huckabee choosing him to serve on the Arkansas Arts Council and on the Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

Trammel will replace Jonathan Barnett, the current 3rd District representative on the Highway Commission. Barnett’s term expires on January 14, but he has indicated that he may resign before that to prepare for his newly elected position as a representative in the Arkansas Legislature. Beebe’s appointment of Trammel will take effect when Barnett steps down, and expires in January of 2019.
