Griffin to Congress: Extend 2001 and 2003 Tax Relief Now

LITTLE ROCK – Second District Congressional candidate, U.S. Army Reservist and former U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin today called on the House of Representatives to pass a full extension of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts before it adjourns for its summer break on Friday by issuing the following statement:

“In just 155 days, tax relief for American families and small businesses is set to expire, resulting in the largest tax increase in our nation’s history–another blow to private sector job creation. We can’t afford for Congress to take a six week vacation while employers and families try to make fiscal decisions without knowing if their taxes will be going up at the end of the year. Speaker Pelosi and the House leadership need to provide certainty to Americans by extending all of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts before they leave on Friday for summer break. If they do not, I call on Speaker Pelosi to keep the House in session until the tax relief extension, which is critical for jobs, passes.”
