Kathy Mattea and Doyle Dykes Headline Tribute to Grandpa Jones Concerts

The Ozark Folk Center State Park pays tribute to the late, great Grandpa Jones with two nights of special musical performances August 29th and 30th. Guitarist Doyle Dykes headlines the Friday night show along with Ramona Jones and the Jones Family Band. Tickets for Friday’s show are $12 general admission and are available the day of the show only, no advance sales. Dykes is one of today’s most accomplished acoustic guitar players and is best known for his unique finger-style and thumbpicking performances.

Saturday’s show features Kathy Mattea along with Ramona Jones and the Jones Family Band. Tickets for the Saturday evening show are $20 for general admission seating and can be purchased both in advance and the day of the show. Mattea has enjoyed a long and successful career blending country, bluegrass and other traditional forms of folk music into her songs. Her latest album Calling Me Home features songs that reflect on the joys and hardships of rural life in the eastern mountains of Appalachia.

Best known for his television appearances on Hee Haw, Jones had a long and successful career that began in the golden age of radio and lasted thru the late 1990’s. While he lived in Tennessee much of his life, Jones left a lasting impression on the town of Mountain View, AR where he and Ramona operated a dinner theatre later in life. His time in Mountain View created a legacy the Ozark Folk Center State Park celebrates each year.

The mission of Ozark Folk Center State Park is to perpetuate, present and promote the Ozark way of life in an educational and enjoyable manner; through craft demonstrations, musical programs, the Heritage Herb Garden, workshops and other special events.
