Lincoln and Pryor Offer Recommendation for U.S. District Judge, Western District of Arkansas

Washington – U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor today announced that they have recommended P.K. Holmes III as their choice for U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas. The Arkansas senators sent a letter to President Obama naming Mr. Holmes, currently a partner at Warner, Smith & Harris PLC in Fort Smith and a former U.S. Attorney for the Western District, as their candidate for the judicial opening.

“I am proud to recommend P.K. Holmes, whose exceptional credentials have qualified him to serve the people of the Western District of Arkansas as a U.S. District Judge,” Lincoln said. “After careful consideration, I am confident that Mr. Holmes has the appropriate experience and qualifications to assume this role. I know that he would capably serve the people of Arkansas, as he has throughout his legal career.”

“P.K. Holmes stands out as an ideal candidate to serve as U.S. District Judge for the Western District,” Pryor said. “His breadth of experience in civil and criminal litigation matters and long-standing commitment to a just legal system will serve our state well.”

Mr. Holmes is currently a partner at Warner, Smith & Harris PLC in Fort Smith and was the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas from 1993-2001. He earned his law degree from the University of Arkansas. Mr. Holmes has been a member of Arkansas Volunteer Lawyers for the Elderly (AVLE) since its inception, and was selected as AVLE Lawyer of the Year in 1989.

The vacancy in the position of U.S. District Judge for the Western District is a result of Judge Robert T. Dawson assuming senior status.

The senators’ letter to President Obama is attached.
