Sturch to Run for Arkansas House of Representatives to Serve District 63

James Sturch, a lifelong resident of Independence County, is seeking your vote for State Representative for the District 63 seat, which covers most of Independence County.  He will be a candidate in the Republican primary election on May 20th.

Sturch has a passion for public service that began at a young age, when he volunteered on Mike Huckabee’s gubernatorial re-election campaign more than 12 years ago. Since then, he has gone on to serve countless hours on several local, state, and federal campaigns.  Sturch has also volunteered for a number of organizations that promote civic engagement and political involvement for all ages.

“I will continue to work hard to make Independence County a better place to live, work, and raise a family by supporting policies that promote economic development, a quality education for every resident, and government that is more efficient and accountable.”

EDUCATION

Sturch is a graduate of Southside High School and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he studied political science and secondary education. While at UALR, he held many leadership roles – including serving as the President of the university’s political science honor society – while maintaining and graduating with the university’s highest academic honors.

“One of the issues near to my heart is education.  If elected, I want to improve the quality of education in Arkansas by voting for policies that encourage all citizens to continue their education.  I believe in the opportunities education can bring and when we improve the quality of our teachers by giving them the tools they need to expand their knowledge, we improve the quality of our classrooms.”

Sturch is a certified high school social studies teacher and is pursuing a master’s degree in Public Administration.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The son of conservative working-class parents, Sturch knows the value of a dollar and the efforts of hard work, and pledges to promote tax policies that are fair and honest. He will also work hard to encourage business-friendly policies in order to attract more higher-paying jobs to Arkansas.

“Independence County is a great location for industry, as evidenced by the development of our industrial park.  We’ve got the facilities and the space; now it’s time to showcase ourselves to prospective businesses, and that’s what I will do when the opportunities present themselves.”

GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY

Sturch believes government closest to the people is best, and wants to work to ensure taxpayer money is spent wisely. During his time spent observing legislative sessions at the State Capitol, Sturch has seen various ways in which taxpayer money can be appropriated more efficiently and is passionate about ensuring that every dollar is spent properly.

“It’s not someone else’s money that’s being spent.  It should be spent conservatively, not frivolously.”

Sturch previously served in the Secretary of State’s office and plans to draw upon his experience in state budgeting and administration to ensure resources are being spent appropriately for state operations.
