Monday, April 26th, 2010United States Senate Candidate Gilbert Baker announced the cities included in the Baker for U.S. Senate “No Bailouts Bus Tour” scheduled for Apr. 28, 2010 – May 1, 2010. The tour will highlight his campaign message that big government bailouts are wrong and he opposes any and all bailouts. Baker will collect signatures on his trademark blue tarp to reflect the opposition to the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) bank bailout.
“People are angry that members of Congress used the TARP bank bailout to reward failing banks,” Baker said. “The federal government should not be picking winners and losers.”
Baker’s opponent in the U.S. Senate race, Cong. John Boozman voted for the TARP bank bailouts.
“I have asked Congressman Boozman to join me in pledging not to support future government bailouts,” Baker said. “I have yet to hear a response.”

Humane Society Fundraiser in Heber Springs
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009The Heber Springs Humane Society is in SERIOUS need of used blankets, towels, sheets, or items that go on the floors of the kennels. Due to the economic times, they have cut the budget again, and there is no money for this.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 25, 2009, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Central Arkansas S.P.C.A., will be in Jacksonville, at Knight’s Grocery, on James Street. We will be collecting the items and will bring them to Heber Springs, hopefully over the weekend.
We will be in Heber Springs on Dec. 12th, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., doing another drive for these items and taking Santa Paws photos. The photos will be $5, for a 4×6 and printed while you wait. Photos will benefit, both, Heber Springs Humane Society and Central Arkansas S.P.C.A.
All natural doggie cookies will be available at both drives for a dollar a quart bag. Please feel free to call me at 501-398-5238 if you have any questions.
