White County Single Parent Scholarship Fund, Inc. Recently Awarded 29 Scholarship

The White County Single Parent Scholarship Fund, Inc. recently awarded 29 scholarships at its 2013 Fall Scholar/Donor Reception.  Approximately 180 people attended the event, which was held in the Founders Room of Harding University.

Total value of the scholarships awarded was $18,600. One of the scholarships awarded was the first annual Louise Beebe Endowed Scholarship.  The Louise Beebe Endowed Scholarship was named after Governor Mike Beebe’s mother for her courage and resilience in raising her son as a single parent.

Governor Beebe gave the keynote address and presented the first Louise Beebe Endowed Scholarship to Viki Vinson, a nursing student who is attending ASU Jonesboro. Craig O’Neill of KTHV served as emcee for the event.

Since the White County Single Parent Scholarship Fund, Inc. began awarding scholarships in 1999, 425 scholarships have been awarded with a value of $221,927.00. For more information, contact Dan Newsom at 501-230-2414.
