Boozman Announces New Chief of Staff

U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) today announced Toni-Marie Higgins—a 12-year veteran of Capitol Hill who currently serves as his Legislative Director—will become his Chief of Staff beginning October 23.

“Toni-Marie has been an asset to my team for more than a decade. She is a trusted advisor who has experience on a wide range of policy issues important to our state. I am pleased that she will serve as my top aide and continue to work on behalf of the people of Arkansas in this new role,” Boozman said.

Higgins has held a variety of roles on Boozman’s staff since joining his team in 2007. Since 2015, she has served as Boozman’s Legislative Director, overseeing the senator’s legislative staff, advising the senator on policy matters and managing his assignment on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Prior to working for Boozman, Higgins served in the office of U.S. Representative Sue Kelly (R-NY) as staff assistant, legislative correspondent and scheduler.

“I am humbled by the Senator’s confidence and honored to serve in this new capacity. I look forward to continue working alongside our hardworking staff on behalf of all Arkansans,” Higgins said.

Higgins, a native of Ringwood, NJ, earned a Bachelor of Arts in government and politics from the University of Maryland. She and her husband, Sean, have a three-year-old son, Brandon.

Higgins replaces Helen Tolar who is departing Capitol Hill to pursue an opportunity in the private sector.

“I wish Helen the best of luck in her future endeavors. She has spent her career dedicated to public service and I appreciate her commitment to the people of Arkansas,” Boozman said.
