Carnival Lights & Country Nights at the Van Buren County Fair 2013

The Van Buren County Fair has a great lineup this year with new events and additions to the favorites. Come out to rope a goat or watch the goat roping on Friday, September 13 from 6 p.m. until 6 p.m. and then again on Saturday, September 14 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. You also won’t want to miss Mister Morphis One Man Band on Friday, September 13 at 7:30 p.m. The gate admission is only $2.00 per person 12 and over this year.

The VBC Fair Pageants will kick off the fair on Saturday September 7, beginning at 4 p.m. with the babies, 5:30 p.m. with the Elementary Pageant, and 7:30 with the Junior and Senior Pageants. Registration and practice for the pageants will Friday, September 5 and 6 from 6 until 8 p.m.

Bring your arts, crafts, photos, canned goods, etc. and enter the Creative Arts Exhibits on Monday, September 9 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Livestock (goats, lambs and commercial ewes) will be checked in on Monday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. as well, check the schedule for details. Judging will be done on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, September 11, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. dairy and beef cattle, swine, poultry, and rabbits will be checked in. Also, it’s Senior Citizen Day with a game of Fruit Bingo. Youth Talent contestants will have registration and rehearsal in the Graham Weatherly Building at 6 p.m.

See an exciting Karate Exhibition on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. and then listen to an all-time favorite gospel group, the Nelson Family, at 7 p.m.

Friday evening be entertained by the Van Buren County Community Band at 6:30 p.m. and stay for the One Man Band.

Saturday, September 14 at 3 p.m. will be Kids Day Activities for kids 10 years and younger next to the fair office. In the evening at 7 p.m. the Youth Talent Contest will begin.

The kitchen will be open Tuesday through Saturday at 11 a.m. The commercial exhibits will be from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. during the week and from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Farmer for a Day is 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. during the week and 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday – there are some fun new additions. Carnival rides will open Wednesday and go through Saturday.
