Nearly 50 paintings were hung Monday by the North Central Arkansas Artist League at Ozark Health Medical Center in Clinton. The public is invited to view the works, which include watercolors, acrylics, oil paintings, pen and ink, and pointillism, all using the color orange somewhere in the art.

The theme “Orange” is the color of fall: pumpkins, peaches, pears, and falling leaves. It’s the color of promise: flowers that bloom in the spring and summer, wheat, hay, sandstone rocks, and vibrant sunsets. It’s the color of skin that’s seen too much sun and is ready for the cool, crisp days of autumn. Enjoy looking for bold and subtle orange in most of these paintings.

Twelve local area artists participated in the exhibit: Ellen Kelly, Charlotte Rierson, Kathleen Hadley, Fairfield Bay; Yun Kim and Joyce Hubbard, Mt. View; Carolyn Goettsch, Edgemont; Jan Cobb, Greers Ferry; Faye Rodgers and Sue Pico, Clinton; Diana Foote of Holly Mt.; and Exhibit Coordinator Joyce Hartmann, Choctaw.

The paintings are located in two places: in the hallways upstairs near the cafeteria (use the nursing home entrance) and downstairs in the outpatient wing. Encourage an artist and help Auxiliary projects by purchasing a painting in the Gift Shop; there are some great bargains.

The Outpatient Wing display can be viewed from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Cafeteria display is open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The exhibit will remain until November 6th.

Members of the Artist League also maintain exhibits at the Greers Ferry Library, Fairfield Bay Library, NCA Library in the Conference Center at Fairfield Bay, and other locations. They meet in Fairfield Bay to paint together and hold workshops. On Aug. 21 and 22, they will host a watercolor workshop by nationally known artist Richard Stephens of Hot Springs.
