Arkansas Craft School Fundraising Gala Nov 5

Kicking off the “Mountains, Music and Mistletoe” holiday season in Mountain View, the Arkansas Craft School announces a Fundraising Gala set for Friday November 5, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Country Time Dining and More in Mountain View.  The Gala will feature a seafood buffet, live music featuring The Acousticatz, a live auction of hand-crafted items to benefit the School’s scholarship fund, a silent auction, a raffle for a mandolin and door prizes.

Headlining the evening’s musical entertainment, The Acousticatz are a band steeped in bluegrass, but tinged by pop, jazz and country and can best be summed up in just five words: Everything old is new again. This group offers a refreshing, wholesome approach that
crosses demographic lines and embraces young and old alike. They were Arkansas State winners and national semifinalists of the Colgate Country Showdown, the biggest country music competition in the world. Performing a blend of original and traditional favorites, the group has enjoyed extensive touring throughout Arkansas and the U.S. as well as maintaining a brisk schedule for the Arkansas Arts Council Arts On Tour program.  Opening for The Acousticatz will be The Improbable Ensemble featuring John Van Orman, Jeff Glover and Crystal McCool.

The live auction will feature hand-crafted creations by some of the Arkansas Craft School’s most talented instructors and students; including nationally known artists Thomas Mann, Shadow May and Nick Cook.  Just in time for Christmas shopping, bidding for these hand- crafted works of art will begin at a fraction of their normal retail price.  Christmas Shopping just got easy…..Find the perfect gift for that special someone!  The Arkansas Craft School provides scholarships to students who would otherwise be unable to attend due to financial restraints; and the auction provides a way for these students to give something in return.  Proceeds from the live auction will directly benefit the scholarship fund.

So, come join us for a night of fun!  Tickets are $25.00 per person or $45.00 per couple, and may be purchased at Aunt Minnie’s Yellow House, Centennial Bank, Citizen’s Bank, First Service Bank, Mountain View Music and the White River Hoedown.  Or you may call the Arkansas Craft School at (870) 269-8397.
