Arkansas Highway Police Sergeant Secures Second Place in International Competition

Arkansas Highway Police Sergeant James Hamrick finished second in the North American Level One Inspection competition sponsored by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Representatives of North American jurisdictions gathered in Indianapolis, Indiana from August 8th through August 12th to compete in the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) 24th annual North American Inspectors Championship (NAIC). This is the only event dedicated to testing, recognizing and awarding commercial motor vehicle inspector excellence.

All of the events are timed and a compilation score of the categories determines who receives the Jimmy K. Ammons Grand Champion Award, the highest NAIC honor for roadside inspectors.

A Level One Inspection requires a review of the driver and carrier’s information, a visual inspection of the tractor and all trailers and specific functionality tests all designed to ensure that the vehicle and driver are safe to continue operations.
