Arkansas Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter announces Run for Senate against Lincoln

Arkansas Lieutenant Governor Bill Halter says he is seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Senator Blanche Lincoln this fall. Halter was elected lieutenant governor in 2006 and led the campaign for the lottery amendment Arkansas voters approved in 2008.

Halter’s spokesman provided a statement Monday and said he would file papers for the U.S. Senate Race this week. Halter is the only Democrat to formally announce a challenge to Lincoln as she seeks a third term.

This makes Nine in this race Eight Republicans already announced intrest in the seat.

Halter is a former Clinton administration official.
