Arkansas Storm Update for Storms on April 30, 2010

North Little Rock, Ark. – Governor Mike Beebe issued a State of Emergency today to assist with storm response. The Arkansas Department of Emergency Management is monitoring the severe weather and flooding activity that has occurred on April 30 and continuing. The State Emergency Operations Center is activated to a level III.

Damages have been reported in Crittenden, Conway, Dallas, Howard, Jackson, Lonoke, Mississippi, Pulaski, Saline, Stone, Van Buren and White Counties.

Conway County

The Conway County Emergency Manager is reporting 10 homes destroyed and 34 homes damaged.

Crittenden County

The Crittenden County Emergency Manager has reported flash flooding in Marion and West Memphis.

Dallas County

State Police Troop F has reported structure damage in Carthage as well as down trees and power lines. One home has been reported damaged.

Howard County

The Howard County Emergency Manager reported trees down throughout the Dierks area. Power outages are sporadic throughout the area. There are reports that a business was damaged in the storm.

Jackson County

State Police Troop B has reported two homes with damage and several structures damaged on Hwy 17.

Lonoke County

There are two shelters open: Ward Municipal Complex located at 405 Hickory, Ward, Ark. and Baptist Church located on Second St., Lonoke, Ark. ASP Troop A is reporting 93 homes damaged and 11 roads are damaged.

Mississippi County

The county is reporting 55 homes damaged.

Pulaski County

The county is reporting damages to multiple home.

Saline County

The Saline County Emergency Manager has reported that the East End Fire Department and the East End Baptist Church have been damaged. The county is reporting 40 homes and 2 businesses damaged.

Scott County

The county is reporting one fatality due to drowning.

Stone County

The Stone County Emergency Manager has reported one house partially destroyed.

Van Buren County

The Van Buren County Emergency Manager has reported updated human impact totals. There is 1 fatality and 10 injuries in the community of Scotland. The community also has widespread structure damage. Shady Grove has a reported 3 mobile homes destroyed. Governor Beebe has deployed Arkansas National Guardsmen to Scotland. One shelter has been opened at Woodman of the World, 2343 Barnes Community Road, Clinton, Ark.

White County

The county is reporting 20 homes were damage. There were two injuries reported.
