Auditions for the feature film Sympathy Pains Coming to Conway

Auditions for the feature film Sympathy Pains will be held in Conway on February 24, 5pm to 8:30 pm at Stanley Russ Hall, UCA Campus, Conway, AR.

Looking for men, women, and children of all ethnicities that want to act in the feature film Sympathy Pains produced by the UCA Filmmaking Department and written and directed by Joe Dull.

Sympathy Pains is the story of Danny, a terrible comedian who suffers from morning sickness after he finds out his wife is pregnant.  Fighting a battle between his family and his dream job, Danny chooses both and succeeds at neither.

The film is produced by the UCA Digital Filmmaking program.  UCA Digital Filmmaking is the largest filmmaking program in Arkansas and one of the only programs in the nation to include a hands-on feature filmmaking course.  Recent graduates have gone on to work on Green Lantern, Pirates of the Caribbean, and the Jeff Nichols feature Mud.

Filming will begin in June and last until August.   Post production will continue through the summer of 2013, and will be completed in time for the Sundance and Slamdance Film Festival submission deadlines in August.  The department’s last project, Table at Luigi’s, which involved nearly 100 UCA students, premiered in 2010 and has screened across the country.

It won Best in Show at the Indie Fest in La Jolla, CA; Best Romance Film at Bare Bones Film Festival in Muskogee, OK; the Love is in the Air Award at the Film Festival in Colorado in Denver and an Official Finalist Award in the Las Vegas Film Festival.

“The first film was such a success, we’re looking forward to repeating that and making it even stronger with this one,” writer and director Joe Dull said.
