Arkansas Auditor of State Charlie Daniels’ office received the Holder’s Choice Website Award from the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization (UPPO) at the group’s annual conference this week in Orlando, Florida. Three hundred members of UPPO reviewed unclaimed property websites from 50 states and voted www.auditor.ar.gov as the most improved website providing valuable compliance information to unclaimed property holders. Unclaimed property agent Josh Wood, a member of Daniels’ staff, attended the conference and accepted the
award on Daniels’ behalf.
“We appreciate this recognition of our new website,” said Daniels. “Last September we launched www.auditor.ar.gov as an improved resource for owners and holders of unclaimed property, as well as for the variety of other groups that the Auditor of State serves. Some of the upgrades included improved search features, added educational content and a mobile app for The Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt. The new site is a great resource for all Arkansans.”
Daniels’ office partnered with the Information Network of Arkansas (INA) to design and construct the website. INA is a collaborative effort between the state of Arkansas and the Arkansas Information Consortium that helps state government entities Web-enable their information services. “The website was designed at no cost to the Auditor of State’s Office and we are pleased that it has received this national award” said General Manager Phil Billingsley.
UPPO represents holders of unclaimed property, which include businesses and government organizations obligated to return abandoned property to the rightful owner by reporting to unclaimed property administrators in the various states. Holders are required to report on October 31 of each year and may file online or by electronic transfer through the Auditor of State’s website.
