Batesville Seeks Proposals For a Community Mural:

Main Street Batesville seeks proposals for a community mural to be painted on Main Street.  Batesville has a unique cultural and historical background, being geographically nestled in the foothills of the Ozarks and the oldest continuous city in the state.

This year Batesville is celebrating its 200th birthday! We need designs that reflect the people of this region and the great sense of community that exists here.

This mural will be 8’X16’ and needs to have a limited color palette. Perhaps no more than 8 colors. The plan for this design is to turn it into a “paint by number” that can be painted by members of the community in celebration of this great city! It will be done in 4 sections in our pocket park on Main.

The finished product will hang on Main Street at a location to be determined.

The people of this city are its very heart, and this Mural is meant to commemorate the many lives lived here.

The selected artist will receive a $150 prize and the opportunity to help guide this community project to completion.

The selection of the artist and the design will be made by Main Street, Batesville, and Batesville area arts Council.

Submission requirements;

  • description of proposed mural and connection to the people of Batesville
  • personal statement about the artist(s) work
  • design image, this can be a sketch or digital design

The deadline for design ideas and proposals is Monday, August 2, 2021.

The projected start date would be October 1, 2021, with a hopeful completion date of November 1st.
