The Baptist Collegiate Ministry of the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville hosted its annual birthday party for the students, faculty and staff of UACCB on August 25, 2011.
Guests enjoy lunch and cake at the BCM Birthday Party at UACCB
Over 50 volunteers from 14 area churches assisted with the party. Lunch was served by two of the churches and each month of the year was represented by the other 12 churches with a themed table decorated with cakes, cupcakes and other treats for birthdays in that month. Youth and college ministers and/or pastors of the churches were also on hand to greet the students, faculty, and staff. BCM campus minister, Joella Huddleston and Cecilia Baker were assisted with this event by Connie Davis, Jerry and Becky Jeffery. Charles Dean provided the recorded music for the party.
According Huddleston, “There were over 200 guests who attended and signed up to receive encouragement from these volunteer churches throughout the year.” She adds, “The regular BCM meals start this Thursday, September 1 at Noon and will be hosted by First Baptist Church Batesville. There will be lunch each Thursday at Noon hosted by a different church each week. All students, staff and faculty are welcome to attend.”
The churches who participated were: Rosie Baptist Church, Ruddell Hill Baptist Church, Cord Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Batesville, Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, Faith Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Desha, Eastside Baptist Church, The Compass Church, Floral Baptist Church, Fellowship Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church, and Sulphur Rock Baptist Church. BCM is supported by the Independence Baptist Association.
