Boozman Statement on Energy Independence Executive Order

U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) issued the following statement after President Trump issued the Energy Independence Executive Order:

“President Trump continues his commitment to reign in overreaching federal agencies. Rolling back the misnamed Clean Power Plan protects Arkansas families from a drastic increase in energy costs, electricity blackouts and job cuts. This is especially important to low-income families and seniors living on a fixed income. Arkansas has worked hard with the energy industry to balance environmental concerns while supplying an affordable and reliable source of energy and this action will allow them to continue that collaboration,” Boozman said.

Last Congress, Boozman pushed to roll back the clean power plan as a cosponsor of the Affordable Reliable Energy Now Act. He was also a cosponsor of S.J.Res. 23, which would rescind the carbon emissions standards for new power plants and S.J.Res. 24, which would rescind the carbon emissions standard for existing power plants.
