ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Batesville’s Harrison Street project

Batesville, Ark – The Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce invites the public to join Highway officials, Commissioner Cliff Hoofman and Director Dan Flowers, as well as local officials Friday, August 6th at 10:30 a.m. in the green space by the walking trail at White River Medical Center for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Harrison Street project. Glenn Bolick, spokesman for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department said, “Harrison Street was a $13 million project that started in early 2008. The project consisted of widening the three miles of Harrison Street east of Hwy. 167.” Lyndal Waits, District 5 Engineer said, “The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department is pleased that the Harrison Street project is fully opened to traffic. The prime contractor, White River Materials, along with Atlas Asphalt and other subcontractors have done an outstanding job of progressing the work. The traveling public has been courteous to each other during congested times. While we have had some calls of complaint, overall, for the scope of work, the complaints have been minimal. That is a tribute to White River Materials, Atlas Asphalt and to AHTD employees who oversaw the contract. It has been a wonderful experience and the Department is glad to provide the citizens of Batesville a safe and effective highway.” The event will be casual attire.
