Applications are now being accepted from educators in the Batesville School District to share in $15,000 in grant money through the Third Annual Citizens Bank Education Initiative. The deadline for applications to be submitted is June 3.
“Citizens Bank is proud to support our educators in their pursuit of excellence in education,” said John Dews, President and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Bank. “In its first two years, this initiative has provided $30,000 to help the district’s teachers with additional equipment and activities to make their educational efforts more effective and exciting.”
“We are grateful to Citizens Bank for creating this Education Initiative, which enhances and supplements the learning experiences for our students,” said Batesville School Superintendent Dr. Randy Willison.
“We all recognize the critical role of a quality educational system to the betterment of our community, and Citizens Bank is pleased to provide additional resources to extend our teachers’ commitment to our children,” said Karen Shaw, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, who directs the Batesville initiative for the bank. “We are impressed by the creativity of the projects that have become reality through this program.”
In the first two years of the Citizens Bank Education Initiative, educators in the Batesville School District have received funding to help create an outdoor ecology lab at Sulphur Rock Magnet; purchase iPads and create a technology center at Central Magnet Elementary; provide parents of preschoolers with “Early Learning Literacy Kits”; acquire CD players with headphones to increase reading fluency and help develop vocabulary at West Magnet Elementary; establish “Kindle Touches Literacy” and “Boys Will Be Readers” programs at Eagle Mountain Magnet; and other projects.
The Education Department at Lyon College is again partnering with the bank to review the applications and select the grant recipients. All applications will be reviewed anonymously. The entries will be judged and selections made based on pre-determined criteria with the goal of impacting as many children and educators as possible.
Teachers who wish to submit grant applications may obtain an electronic form from Pam Brooks, Director of Curriculum, in the Batesville School District Administration Office.
