Congressman Tim Griffin Meets with Canadian Consul General

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement after meetingwith the Honorable Paula Caldwell St-Onge, Consul General of Canada:

“I appreciate Consul General St-Ongestopping by my office to discuss the importance of Arkansas’strade relationship with Canada. Over 50,000 Arkansans earn their living from export-supported jobs, and Canada remainsour state’s largest trading partner.  Last year alone, Canadianspurchased $1.34 billion worth of Arkansas-made goods and services.  And bybuilding the Keystone XL pipeline, we could strengthen our relationship with atrusted ally, create thousands of U.S. jobs and make our country lessdependent on Middle Eastern oil.”

Since thesummer of 2010, Ms. St-Onge has served as Consul General of Canada to the SouthCentral United States, which includes Arkansas,Kansas, Louisiana,Oklahoma and Texas.  She was Minister Counsellor andSenior Trade Commissioner at the Canadian Embassy in Mexico City from 2008 to 2010.  Sheserved as Senior Trade Commissioner at the Consulate General of Canada in Sao Paulo, Brazil,from 2005 to 2008.
