Congressmen Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:
“American history is marked by great moments, and the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is on full display today. Every four years, the world marvels when Democracy runs its course and our head of state is sworn in to office, pledging to ‘preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.’ Today, that significance is amplified by the symbolism of America’s first African-American president taking his second oath of office on the day reserved to honor the legacy of Dr. King. As Americans, we must never forget those—especially Dr. King—who have sacrificed to make our nation better and our country more free.”
