Fiddling and Violet Hensley, Great Pair for Over 80 Years

Soon to be entering her 100th year on Earth, Violet Hensley is without a doubt an Ozark treasure. As both a fiddle player and fiddle maker, Violet has carried the tradition of literally” making your own music” since the early 1930’s where she started in Mount Ida, AR. Through the years Violet has become synonymous with traditional Ozark fiddling and culture.

The Ozark Folk Center State Park is proud to welcome Violet back to Mountain View, AR when she makes a return appearance at the Music Auditorium on Saturday August 16th. Violet will be accompanied by one of this generation’s great Ozark fiddlers, Betse Ellis for a night of music and stories. Tickets are $12.00 available the day of the show only, no reserved seating. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 7pm.

The mission of Ozark Folk Center State Park is to perpetuate, present and promote the Ozark way of life in an educational and enjoyable manner; through craft demonstrations, musical programs, the Heritage Herb Garden, workshops and other special events.
