Free Community Concert July 31st in Batesville

First Community Bank and Bad Boy, Inc. sponsor Free Community Concert to kick-off Water Carnival.

Bring your lawn chair, friends, and the entire family to enjoy an evening of free entertainment Friday, July 31st at Riverside Park. First Community Bank and Bad Boy, Inc have partnered to host a free community concert in conjunction with the White River Water Carnival.

Entertainment begins at 6:00 p.m. with the White River’s Got Talent finalist competition.  Ten finalists, who were selected from preliminary auditions, will compete for their share of prize money that has been provided courtesy of First Community Bank and Bad Boy, Inc. The first place winner will receive
$1,000, second place pays $500, and third place will take home $250.

At 7:30 p.m. Jericho Crossing, a contemporary Country & Christian band, will take the stage. With an incredible blend of four distinct voices, the style and vocal latitude of this band are as entertaining as they are fresh. While the combination of members may be new, the players are well seasoned veterans; having made an impact on audiences throughout the United States in their respective careers. The front line of Jericho Crossing includes Bill Albritton and Lisa Lee, along with the husband/wife duo of Mark and
Melissa Willett. Individually they have shared the stage with the likes of Kenny Chesney, Bill Gaither, Clay Cross, Jackie Valesquez, BeBe and CiCi Winans, Tracey Lawrence, Van Morrison, The Byrds, Molly Hatchet, Shanendoa, Head East and Nazareth…just to name a few. Jericho Crossing is set to release their debut project in the summer of 2009.
The headliner group, The Venus Mission, will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. and will close the show.
This Memphis-based group performs throughout the Mid-South and features three female singers, four musicians, and hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today. Recording with noted producers Chris Trevett and Niko Lyras, the band worked for two years creating its own original pop songs and released its first album, “Body Rockin”, in 2007. According to the release, The Venus Mission delivers a show that’s as professional as it is entertaining. It includes soaring harmonies, a high-energy stage act, and a variety of music from disco to Prince, to the Go-Go’s to Beyonce. The group has built a large, loyal following with a show that is noted for being a blast for those watching or singing along.

“First Community Bank has joined with Bad Boy, Inc. to carry on the tradition of musical entertainment on the River during the White River Water Carnival,” said Boris Dover, President and COO. “This will be
the first time, in a long time, that entertainment will be free to the general public. We feel good about eliminating the admission charge, thus making it available and inviting to all,” Dover concluded.

Attendees are asked to bring a blanket or a lawn chair for seating. Concessions will be for sale in the park. No alcohol will be permitted in the park.
