Fulton County Fair Awards Scholarships

The Fulton County Fair recently awarded $7,500 in to graduating seniors in Fulton County who are active in the county, district and state fairs and have met the guidelines for the fair scholarship program. The Fulton County Fair Foundation awarded seven $1,000 scholarships and a $500 scholarship from ASU-Mountain Home was awarded to the 2018 Fulton County Fair Queen. Scholarship winners are:

Lynnsey Foster a graduate of Viola High School received a $1,000 scholarship has exhibited in the Fulton County Fair for the past 13 years and has exhibited in the North Central Arkansas District Fair and the Arkansas State Fair. She is a Fulton County Fair Ambassador and serves as a Junior Superintendent in the Food Preservation Department. Lynnsey assists with Veterans Day, Senior Day, and is a group leader for Kid’s Day each year at the Fulton County Fair and volunteers with off-season fair events throughout the year. She is a member of the Viola Longhorns 4-H Club and represents 4-H on the Extension Council helping plan programs for youth in Fulton County. Lynnsey will attend Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.

Suzanne Harber, a graduate of Salem High School received a $1,000 scholarship from the Fulton County Fair Foundation. She has shown livestock at the Fulton County Fair for the past 10 years and has exhibited livestock at the North Central Arkansas District Fair and the Arkansas State Fair for 12 years. She has donated several hours of community service to the Fulton County Fair is always willing to help the younger exhibitors with their animals. She plans to attend Ozarka College.

Kyla Knight, a Salem High School graduate, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Fulton County Fair Foundation. Kyla is a Junior Fair Ambassador and has exhibited in the Poultry Department for the past 4 years and was named the Outstanding Poultry Exhibitor in 2017. She volunteers in the Creative Arts Department and helps with events throughout the fair and during the off-season. She always helping the younger exhibitors with their poultry projects. Kyla will attend ASU-Mountain Home.

Madeline Newman, another Salem High School graduate, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Fulton County Fair Foundation. She has exhibited in the Fulton County Fair for the past 13 years and in the North Central Ark. District Fair and Arkansas State Fair for the past 9 years. She has won numerous awards in the Creative Arts Department and in the county and state fair horse shows. Madeline won the Fulton County Fair Junior Fair Queen Pageant and was a finalist in the Arkansas State Fair Junior Fair Queen Pageant. Maddie is a Junior Fair Ambassador and serves as Junior Superintendent in the Food Preparation Department. Maddie will attend Lyon College and will be a member of the College Cheer Team.

Grace Phillips, a graduate of Salem High School, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Fulton County Fair Foundation. Grace is a Junior Fair Exhibitor and has exhibited in the Fulton County Fair for the past 13 years . She serves as a Junior Superintendent in the Food Preparation Department. She has had numerous exhibits in the Creative Arts Department and has exhibited poultry and is a member of the Fulton County 4-H Shooting Sports Team. Grace will attend Arkansas Tech University.

Dalton Roork, a Viola High School grauate, has exhibited in the Fulton County Fair for the past 14 years and started showing cattle when he was 4 years old. He has exhibited hogs and rabbits and crafts in the Creative Arts department. He has served as a Junior Fair Ambassador for the past 4 years and helps at the Fulton County Fair wherever needed. Dalton is always willing to do anything that he is asked to do whether it is grounds cleanup, hauling senior citizens and veterans from parking areas to their events, or helping run the fair truck pulling competition. He is activity in his community too and donates many hours to the Salem Volunteer Fire Department fund raising event each fall. Dalton will attend Crowder College in Neosha, Missouri and major in Diesel Mechanics.

Breanna Walker, of Viola High School, received one of the $1,000 Fulton County Fair Foundation scholarships. She has exhibited in the Fulton County Fair for the past 9 years and has also exhibited at the North Central Ark. District Fair and the Arkansas State Fair. She has been a Fulton County Fair Ambassador for the past 5 years and serves as one of the Junior Superintendents in the Creative Arts Department. Breanna also has taken a leadership role in the Rabbit department helping care for the rabbits and assisting the superintendents and judge. In addition to Creative Arts and rabbits, she has also shown goats and sheep and competed in the fair horse show. She was also crowned Fulton County Fair Young Miss in 2011. Breanna will attend Williams Baptist College.

Dagni Hall, the reigning Fulton County Fair Queen, was awarded a $500 Tuition Scholarship from Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. ASU-MH awards this scholarship each year to the winner of the Fulton County Fair Queen Pageant. Dagni has participated in numerous pageants, the Youth Talent Contest, and has donated hours of community service to the Fulton County Fair and her community.
