Griffin Votes to Extend Three PATRIOT Act Provisions

WASHINGTON – Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) today issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 514, legislation extending three provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act scheduled to expire on February 28, 2011:

“Our most basic duty as Members is to protect the people we represent.  We must remain vigilant and ensure that law enforcement has the tools to track and prosecute terrorists—some who plot while standing on our soil.  I am proud to join my colleagues in a bipartisan manner to support the extension of these provisions.”

The legislation, offered by Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), passed the House, 275-144.
