Griffin: We Must ‘REIN’ in Excessive Regulation in Order to Create Jobs

Congressman Tim Griffin (AR-02) issued the following statement after House passage of the Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act (H.R. 10) earlier today:

“Reasonable regulation is needed to keep our communities safe and clean, but excessive regulation is crushing Arkansas’s job creators, and that’s killing jobs.  Last year alone, the Obama Administration finalized 100 new rules – each with an economic impact of $100 million or more.  It’s estimated that federal regulations are costing our economy over $1.75 trillion annually.  In order to strengthen our economy and encourage private sector job creation, we must rein in the Obama Administration’s excessive regulation. The REINS Act would require congressional approval of every new major regulation proposed by the executive branch before it can be imposed on job creators.  As a cosponsor of this legislation, I was proud to support it in the Judiciary Committee and today on the House floor.”
