Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas announced Kelly Fleming has been named executive director of the nonprofit devoted to put God’s love into action, bringing people together to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
Fleming has served as the Director of Development/Chief Development Officer for the Arkansas Arts Center for the past seven years and has most recently been part of an ongoing capital campaign of $128 million. She has also raised funds for Arkansas Repertory Theatre and Heifer Foundation.
“All of us at Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas see an opportunity to have a big influence on the central Arkansas area and are thrilled to have Kelly lead us in this exciting stage of growth,” said Habitat Board Chairman, Eddie Martin. “I’m excited about this next step for the organization and I can’t wait to see where we can go. We’re especially looking forward to putting Kelly’s marketing and retail experience into high-gear to help reinvigorate our ReStore Donation Centers which provide revenue to help build homes for families in need.” said Martin.
Building on the successes of over 30 years of providing affordable housing in central Arkansas, Kelly’s hiring comes as the organization implements a plan of strategic growth in developing safe, stable, attractive communities, ensuring the successful homeownership for each Habitat borrower and collaborating with other non-profit organizations to revitalize neighborhoods. Recently, Habitat has developed the first Pocket neighborhood in Arkansas (a neighborhood of 9 houses on one street) that is under construction at Porter Cove in North Little Rock.
Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas has several fundraising events throughout the year to help sustain its mission. The largest fundraiser, ReStore & After, will be held this year at the Marriott Hotel on September 12, 2020.
