TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME – GREETINGS:

WHEREAS: Corporal Chad Stafford Wade, born in Memphis, Tennessee, on May 25, 1988, a dedicated and courageous Marine, deeply loved by his family and many friends, died December 1, 2010, while serving his country on combat duty in Helmand Province, Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS: Chad was the beloved son of Tami Croft Boyett and her husband, Terry, of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Terence L. Wade and his wife Crystal, of Oakland, Tennessee; the cherished husband of Katie Wade of Bentonville; the loving brother of Candice Allison, Tia Boyett, Trever Boyett, and Tristan Wade; and devoted grandson; as well as a cherished member of his battalion and a loyal friend to scores of people from across the world; and

WHEREAS Chad was known for his love of family and friends, his big heart and free spirit, his love of nature, fishing, and hunting and for being a baseball and football fan. He was a hero to his family as well as to our nation. He joined the Marines in 2007, shortly after graduating from Rogers High School, and served his first deployment in Iraq and was currently on his second combat deployment as a member of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan; and

WHEREAS: Wade sacrificed his life while supporting combat operations as a rifleman in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as a member of the Marine Corps assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1 Marine Expeditionary Force, out of Camp Pendleton, California, receiving numerous awards and decorations; and

WHEREAS: All Arkansans and United States citizens owe Chad a lasting debt of gratitude for his patriotism, his bravery, and his heroism and should pay tribute to his faithful service; and

WHEREAS: Citizens of this State and Nation extend deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones of Corporal Chad S. Wade;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MIKE BEEBE, Governor of the State of Arkansas, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, in tribute to the memory of Chad Stafford Wade, and as an expression of public sorrow, do hereby direct that the United States flag and the State flag of Arkansas be flown at half-staff on Thursday, December 9, 2010.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 7th day of December, in the year of our Lord 2010.
