Harding University to host Rock ‘N’ Roll Runway Fashion Show

Harding University’s department of family and consumer sciences is hosting a rock ‘n’ roll-themed fashion show Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in Cone Chapel of the Burks American Heritage Building. The cost is $5.

Rock ‘N’ Roll Runway will feature styles of clothing based on the late 60s and early 70s and rock ‘n’ roll music. Junior fashion merchandising major Brittany Garrett is coordinating the show and says attendees should expect leather, studs and faux fur.

“We are going for a concert-like aesthetic with loads of rock ‘n’ roll music playing before and during the show,” Garrett said. “There are some fantastic boutiques involved, and I think that the show is a great way for them to promote their stores to students who may have never been to them before.”

The event will showcase clothing from boutiques in Little Rock, Cabot and Searcy. The show will also feature pieces made by fashion merchandising students in an advanced apparel class. Garrett is excited for the community to engage with the FCS department and for Harding students to be exposed to clothing options in the area.

“I love working fashion shows,” Garrett said. “I have been working fashion shows for a few years now, and over the summer, I decided that I should try to do my own show. It is a night for fashion and fashion lovers.”
