Harlem Gospel Choir to Visit UACCB

Harlem Gospel Choir

University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville officials have announced tickets are now on sale for the February 27th concert featuring the Harlem Gospel Choir.  This concert is the third event of the 2011-2012 performing arts series sponsored by First Community Bank.

The Harlem Gospel Choir travels the world and has performed for royalty and world leaders since it was formed in 1986.  The choir features singers and Musicians from the churches in Harlem and the surrounding New York area. Along with performing worldwide, the choir raises funds for children’s charities.

Allen Bailey founded the choir to share the ‘renaissance of Harlem’s culture and the spirit of American gospel music.’ The Batesville concert is part of the choir’s 25th anniversary tour.  The theme of every performance is to bring people and nations together and give something back.

Reviews of the Harlem Gospel Choir describe their concerts as ‘infectiously enthusiastic with rich harmonies and dynamic sound.  Their harmonious songs of love and hope will touch your soul and lift your spirits.’

The performing arts partnership between UACCB and First Community Bank was forged to “offer national talent to the region so our residents don’t have to travel to larger cities,” according to Tina Paul, director of development at UACCB.  So far this year, the series has included The Spencers: Theatre of Illusion and Arkansas Arts Center’s A Christmas Carol.

The Harlem Gospel Choir will perform on February 27, 2012 in Independence Hall with show time set for 7 pm.  Doors will open at 6:30.

Tickets for the concert may be purchased for $10 each.  Three ticket outlets include First Community Bank’s Main Branch in Batesville, the FCB Cave City location, and the UACCB Cashier’s Window in the Main Classroom Building.
