Improvements to U.S. Highway 64 Require Width Restrictions in White County

Improvements to U.S. Highway 64 will require lane width restrictions in White County, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Crews will be widening U.S. Highway 64 to five lanes west of Beebe between Turner Road and County Road 5. During construction, eastbound and westbound lanes will be alternately widened to the outside, resulting in restrictions to less than 12 feet in width.

The restriction will begin Monday, June 27, weather permitting, and continue through construction. Traffic will be controlled using, barrels and warning signs.

This project is part of AHTD’s Connecting Arkansas Program and includes widening
approximately 3 miles of U.S. Highway 64 to five lanes. The work extends west of Beebe between Turner Road and County Road 5. The project is anticipated to be complete in early 2018. More information on this $8 million project is available at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.

Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
