Man Sentenced For Attempted Escape

A Conway man has been sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections for Possession of a Controlled Substance and his attempted escape from the Faulkner County Detention Center while being held on those charges.
Jerry York, 42, was arrested on February 2, 2010 for Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance.
An anonymous tip led officers to investigate a possible escape planned by York. Officers were told that York had been climbing into the ceiling through the lights that are in the male house bathrooms. When officers examined the area, numerous items belonging to York, including a blanket, phone card, court paperwork and a letter were located in the ceiling.
Twentieth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Marcus Vaden charged Jerry York with Criminal Attempt Escape II and Criminal Mischief on March 12, 2010.
York pled guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 120 months at the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
York was ordered to pay restitution to the Faulkner County Detention Center for damages caused to duct work and plumbing in his attempted escape.
