Margaret Peterson Haddix to kick off Harding University’s Young Adult Author Series

The Graduate Reading Program at Harding University will present its first Young Adult Author Series program Nov. 8-9 featuring author Margaret Peterson Haddix.

Haddix is author of many critically and popularly acclaimed young adult and middle grade novels, including “The Missing” series and the “Shadow Children” series. She graduated from Miami University of Ohio and worked for several years as a reporter for The Indianapolis News. She also taught at the Danville Area Community College in Illinois and now lives with her family in Columbus, Ohio.

The series will include a Friday night meal, a Saturday morning continental breakfast, and an author information packet. Event prices include $125 for one event, $100 for two events and $75 for each event to attend three or four events. The events will provide graduate credit hours applied in fall 2014. In order to receive three hours of graduate credit, an additional $350 is requested and attendance of all four events.

Award-winning author Susan Campbell Bartoletti will continue the series in January, and Newbery Honor Award-winning Christopher Paul Curtis will speak in February. The series will conclude in April with award-winning author S.A. Bodeen and Clare Vanderpool, author of the recently published “Moon Over Manifest,” which received a Newbery Medal.
