Midland School board member Receiving Nationwide Criticism

PLEASANT PLAINS — A Midland School Board member is under fire and receiving nationwide attention after comments he reportedly made on a social-media website first caught the attention of The Advocate.com, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender magazine.

The incident involving Clint McCance of Pleasant Plains is said to have come about after McCance posted a comment on his Facebook page about Spirit Day, which encourages people to wear purple in honor of young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lives lost to suicide and to raise awareness of bullying behaviors that contributed to those deaths.
