Natural Treatment Exhibition by Melissa Cowper-Smith Coming to Batesville

The Batesville Area Arts Council is pleased to present Natural Treatment: an exhibition by Melissa Cowper-Smith. The exhibition will be on display at the BAAC Gallery on Main, 226 E Main St, through April 20, 2019.

Melissa Cowper-Smith is a multimedia artist who uses projected video animation, digital printing, hand papermaking, collage, and painting to express forgetting and the passing of time. Her works depict natural and agricultural landscapes, objects, and domestic interiors. This exhibition features works on paper hand-made with medicinal plants, as well as other plants from the artist’s own garden; works are inspired by interviews she conducted with herbalists in the Ozark and Central River Valley regions of Arkansas.

The gallery reception for this exhibition will be held on Friday, March 8, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., with a brief artist talk at 6 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
