New Farmers Market in Batesville

A new farmer’s market in Batesville, Arkansas will give this area a fun venue to find fresh, locally grown food and locally made handcrafts and works of art. Batesville Main Street Farmers Market will open in the Pocket Park on Batesville’s historic Main Street the second Saturday in June, June 14, from 8am to 12 noon. For this first year the market with open once a month June through November on the second Saturday of the month.

Along with local vegetables and produce and locally raised pastured meats, eggs, and dairy, the Main Street Farmers Market will have booth space for art, handcrafted items, baked goods, plants, honey, jams and jellies. Entertainment at the market will feature music, free early morning yoga sessions, cooking demonstrations with local chefs and farmers, and children’s activities. The Batesville Area Arts Council’s beautiful new gallery at 246 East Main Street in Batesville will be open on the Farmers Market Second Saturdays. Check the BAAC website for times and gallery events.

A group of Batesville residents have been working with Joel Williams, Director of Main Street Batesville; Paige Dirksen, Director of The Batesville Area Arts Council; and Cheryl Anderson of Garden Girl Produce in Pleasant Plains, to bring their idea of a new Farmers Market in the historic downtown area to life. City government gave the OK in April.
