Novelist Tom Franklin and poet Beth Ann Fennelly at UCA April 17-18

NovelistTom Franklin and poet Beth Ann Fennelly will be on the University of Central  Arkansas campus as part of the Artist-In-Residence program April 17-18.

All events of the residency are free and open to the public.

“Fennelly and Franklin have astrong local following due to their ties to Arkansas, but they are both nationallyrecognized,” said Dr. John Vanderslice, associate professor of writing atUCA. “They are a writing power couple.”

The husband and wife writing duo met at the University of Arkansas,where both were pursuing Master of Fine Arts degrees in writing.  Both arecurrently professors of writing at Ole Miss.

Franklin will lecture onfiction writing on Tuesday, April 17, in Winfred Thompson Hall, room 331.  Fennellywill lecture on writing poetry on Tuesday, April 17 in Winfred Thompson Hall,room 104.  Both lectures will be from 2:40-3:55 p.m.

Fennelly and Franklin will givea joint book reading Tuesday, April 17 in the College of Businessauditorium, room 107, at 7:30 p.m.

Fennelly will lecture on writing creative non-fictionWednesday, April 18, at 10 a.m. in Winfred Thompson Hall, room 331.  Franklin will lecture onwriting illustrative narrative works Wednesday, April 18, at 11 a.m. in WinfredThompson Hall, room 331.

Both lecture sets and the book reading are free and open tothe public.
