OFCSP Hosts Hammered Dulcimer Workshop, July 28-30

Instrument workshops continue this summer at the Ozark Folk Center State Park with the annual Hammered Dulcimer Workshops.

Classes are held daily from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., July 28 – 30 and feature instruction for all levels of players. Ilace Mears, Linda Thomas and Rick Thum are featured instructors and performers for the event.

“No matter ones playing ability or style, these workshops have something for players looking to hone their skills” said Music Director Daren Dortin. “And like all of the workshops we host, the sense of community and comradery among the players is very strong.”

In addition to the daily workshops, each instructor will be a featured performer as part of the nightly music show, held each evening in the Large Auditorium, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Pre-registration for the 3 day workshop is $150 until July 14, with the price increasing to $200 after July 14. All registration includes 3 days of classroom instruction as well as daily admission to the Craft Village and nightly concerts in the Large Auditorium. Day of, walk up registration, is available at $75 per day.

The Ozark Folk Center State Park is located at 1032 Park Avenue in Mountain View. Follow the signs to the Ozark Folk Center State Park, less than a mile from the Courthouse Square in downtown Mountain View. The park may also be reached by taking Hwy 5/9/14 (Sylamore Ave) to Jimmy Driftwood Parkway, which leads directly to the park entrance.
