The Arkansas Field office of Operation Homefront and Wal-Mart will be hosting Star-Spangled Baby; a military baby shower for 50 new or expectant military moms. The event will take place in Little Rock at the Clinton Presidential Library July 13 from 10 am to 1 pm. Registration is required.
The event will include lunch, educational information, and a series of hands-on activities geared toward stress management and care giving preparation. Participants will be treated to lunch, given necessary baby items and have an opportunity to win some really great raffle prizes. Ultimately, this event will uplift Arkansas’s military spouses with a network of support, preparing them for motherhood. Event sponsors include: Wal-Mart, Main Gate Storage, Regal Cinemas, Bath & Body Works, Jimmy John’s, Merle Norman, Advocare, Sentsy, Preston’s Hair & Body Salon, McKimmey Associates & Realtors, and Verizon Wireless.
“Operation Homefront recognizes the sacrifice these families are making for our country”, said Executive Director Carol Herrick. “Facing budget cuts, drawdowns, and ongoing deployments, military life can be very stressful. Operation Homefront facilitates support from the community to bolster these families through a happy but stressful time in their life. Most of our attendees are separated from family and may not have a traditional baby shower. What we can do is create that same sense of family and community support, and provide necessary resources. “
Media contacts are invited to attend. For more information about this event, please contact Operation Homefront Oklahoma/Arkansas at 501-351-2018 or e-mail Jaime Briggs at Jaime.Briggs@
