Ozarka College LPN Students Lend a Hand During the Holidays

OC-LPN-Turkey-Fall2012

The Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program at Ozarka College participates in community service projects each semester. The LPN students from Melbourne, Ash Flat and Mountain View each gave $15 to assist the Manna House of Melbourne to help feed the Community.

The Manna House used the funds to provide Thanksgiving turkeys to families in need. Freedom Ford in Melbourne completed the dinner for those families.  Melbourne students assisted Mana House volunteers in handing out the turkeys prior to Thanksgiving.

During the Spring 2012 semester Melbourne students gave personal care packages and food boxes to the Manna House for the Spring Community Service Project. This was to assist those who need items immediately after disasters such as fires, etc. Students from the Ash Flat and Mountain View campuses gave similar items in their local areas.

“Community service projects are an integral part of caring for those in need, nurses care not only for their clients but for those around them, “ said to Ruby Johnson, RN, Ozarka College Nursing Director. “Through projects such as this, especially in the holiday season, we should always remember those less fortunate than us and help when and where we can.”
