Precautionary Boil Water Notice for Community Water System retail water distribution system

The following areas are affected:
All CWS retail customers and consecutive systems which include Shirley, Quitman, Guy, Damascus, Greenbrier, Wooster, Beaverfork Volunteer Fire Department and portions of West Stone County Served By Community Water System.

Reason for Notice:
This is a precautionary notice being issued by Community Water System as the result of a lake upset and water of elevated turbidity passing into the distribution system for a short period of time.

There has been no evidence of contaminated water and the chlorine residual in the water has remained stable.

Customer Action:
AS a precaution, customers in the above noted areas should boil water used for drinking and cooking by heating it to a rolling boil for at least one minute.  Ice cubes formed in the time period for which the boil notice is in effect should be discarded and only boiled water used for making ice.  Water used for bathing should not be a problem.  In addition to or in lieu of boiling water, the customer may want to utilize bottled water from a reputable source.
