Senator Tom Cotton Statement on Huawei Executive Order

Following the announcement of an executive order that authorizes the Commerce Secretary to block transactions involving communications technologies built by firms controlled by a foreign adversary that put the United States at “unacceptable” risk, Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) released the following statement:

“Chinese telecom companies like Huawei effectively serve as an intelligence-gathering arm of the Chinese Communist Party, and the administration is right to restrict the use of their products. Chinese components remain a Trojan horse for telecommunications infrastructure around the globe, and the Department of Commerce should deny their adoption entirely.”
