Senators John Boozman & Tom Cotton Submit Impeachment Trial Question

Earlier today, Senators Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) and John Boozman (R-Arkansas) submitted a question during the Senate’s impeachment trial asking whether the House of Representatives had sought testimony or litigated executive privilege issues during the month it held impeachment articles before sending those articles to the Senate.

Previously, the House of Representatives had claimed that it needed to move impeachment articles forward quickly without calling witnesses for testimony because litigation might not end before the 2020 election. Despite this claim, impeachment articles were delayed delivery to the Senate by 28 days. The House of Representatives now claims that new witnesses, which it did not pursue during its investigation, are vital to its case.
